Access Engineering was incorporated as a Public Limited Liability Company.
The Company received accreditation from the National Construction Association of Sri Lanka (NCASL) as a major specialist contractor.
The Institute for Construction Training and Development (ICTAD) assigned Access Engineering the highest classification – M1 Grade for many specialty areas. (Note: M1 Grade has been replaced with C1)
The Company was successful in obtaining the ISO 9001:2004 Certification for Quality Management System.2004
USAID awarded the Company a major contract in the harbor sector. This resulted in the ownership of a cutter section dredger.2007
Access achieved a major fete in introducing pioneering technologies into the local market through Horizontal Directional Drilling for a fiber optic project.2008
The Company continued its path of professional excellence and obtained the ISO 9001:2008 Certification.2009
Access received recognition from the Sri Lanka Institution of Engineers with accreditation as an institute for training engineers for charter.

The Company was successful in raising Rs. 4.5bln through a private placement. This was the second largest private placement deal recorded in the country’s equity market. As an exemplary gesture, the Company gifted Rs. 3bln worth of shares to over 1000 Employees. In a landmark event, Access received global recognition as the first Sri Lankan construction company to be admitted to the UN Global Compact policy initiative.2011
Access acquires 60% control of Sathosa Motors PLC (SML) buying out Japan’s Itochu Corporation. (Note: current ownership is 84.4%) Access Engineering Initial Public Offering (IPO) was oversubscribed within hours of its opening in March. The shares of the Company were listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, Diri Savi Board classified under the Construction and Engineering Sector. Access Engineering was awarded the single largest piling project in Sri Lanka to-date; the Rs. 3.1 bln piling Contract of the Outer Circular Highway Project.2012
Through SML, the Company invested in a 50% stake in SML Frontier Automotive (Private) Limited, the official agent for Land Rover in Sri Lanka. Access Engineering commenced a newly formed joint Venture with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Ltd of China (ZPMC) to commission, repair and maintain container handling equipment. The Company obtained OHSAS 18001:2007 Certification for Occupational Health and Safety Assurance Series. Access Engineering was awarded the contract for the Port Lae Tidal Basin Phase I development project in Papua New Guinea. Triumphed at the National Business Excellence Awards 2013 – received award for the National Overall Gold Winner. Recognized among the Ten Best Corporate Citizens by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.2013
Commences development of state-of-the-art, purpose-built office complex – Access Tower II. Successfully completes the Polduwa Bridge, the multi-span composite bridge across Diyawanna Oya, four months ahead of schedule. The Company celebrates momentous its third consecutive year win of ‘Gold Award for Construction Companies’ at the Annual Report Awards ceremony organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. Acquires a 80% stake of Access Projects (Pvt.) Ltd, a leading contractor in the leisure related building industry.2014
