Ground breaking ceremony of the Outer Circular Highway Piling work

The inauguration and ground breaking ceremony of the Outer Circular Highway Piling works was held at the Pier P II site of the proposed Highway Bridge HB9 of the Outer Circular highway – Northern Section 1 situated 1.7 km away from the Bandarawaththa Junction along the Biyagama – Peliyagoda Road on Thursday, the 26th of July 2012 at 8.30 am.

Piling Work in the Outer Circular highway – Northern Section 1 is the single largest piling project ever to be undertaken by a Sri Lankan construction company. The scope of this subcontract includes the construction and testing of 1801 No. 1500 mm dia. cast-in-situ bored piles for the Northern Section 1 of the OCH Project. The piling work is scheduled to begin in July 2012 and is to be completed within a period of 1 year.

Mr. Horikawa of TAISEI Corporation of Japan and Mr. Rohana Fernando from Access operated the boring rig at the auspicious time to mark the groundbreaking while RDA Project Director Mrs. Sriyani as well as Mr. Peiris, Co-team Leader of Oriental Consultants and the team from Access Engineering were present at the occasion.
