The Batticaloa Water Supply Project – Ceremonially Opened

The Batticaloa Water Supply project was ceremonially commissioned on the 19th October, 2011 by H.E. Mahinda Rajapakse – President of Sri Lanka with the participation of our Parliamentarian VIP’s, officials from the National Water & Drainage Board and representatives of China Geo-Salcon- Access Joint Venture.

The project was funded by the Asian Development Bank together with the Government of Sri Lanka implemented through a ‘Design-Build’ type contract by National Water Supply & Drainage Board as the implementing agency. The project work was carried out in partnership with the China Geo Engineering Corporation of China and the Salcon Engineering Berhard of Malaysia.

The project now provides potable water to a population of 246, 000 individuals in 106 GND’s in Manmunai North, Kattankudi, Manmunai Pattu, Eravur Town and the Eravur Pattu Divisional Secretary areas.
